New indoor amenities options are introduced all the time, making the decision of what to include in your property that much harder. The people over at Multifamily Design & Construction recently surveyed multifamily developers, property owners, designers, construction professionals, and others to find out what’s hot in the world of indoor amenities.
Below are the top five, chosen from over 110 options.
IN-UNIT WASHER/DRYER COMBO
The convenience of having a washer and dryer inside each individual unit, as opposed to a communal laundry room (or none at all) topped the charts as the hottest indoor amenity. If you have a unit layout that doesn’t accommodate a full washer and dryer or stackable unit, possibly opt for an all-in-one unit that can neatly fit under the kitchen countertop (photo above, Norris Place in Augusta, GA).

INDOOR LOUNGE AREA
More and more residents are looking for a lounge area outside of their unit, but inside the community clubhouse or lobby area. This lounge area could be used for small gatherings, parties, as well as a little get away from the humdrum of the resident’s home. (Photo above: The Residences at the Domain in Austin, TX)
INDOOR COMMUNITY KITCHEN
Indoor community kitchens are popular for numerous reasons, most notably parties and gatherings. Having the extra space to prepare and serve a meal for a group of people is made that much easier with the community kitchen. Pictured above is the community kitchen at Halsey Flats in Louisville, KY.

COFFEE BAR
Who doesn’t love coffee? Offering complimentary coffee in the indoor lounge area or clubhouse adds to the feeling of being “at home” and a great place to hang out. Couple the coffee bar with an indoor lounge area for a welcoming and relaxing communal area. Pictured above is the coffee bar at The Davis SoCo in Austin, TX.
LIBRARY/READING AREA
Similar to the indoor lounge area, the library reading area is perfect for residents that want a quiet place to read or get work done. Adding in complimentary WiFi would make this location within your community extremely well-visited. Pictured above is the library and reading area at Port Royale in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
